How much water does bamboo need when growing?

Bamboo requires little irrigation

As a grass, bamboo requires little water to reach harvesting stage compared to trees. It is renowned for growing in harsh climates and degraded soils, in fact it is often used to remediate land which has been used for mining or has been ‘over-grazed’. It also tends to grow in regions with high natural rainfall due to monsoons etc. and doesn’t require supplementary irrigation.
